It is fed by an underground perennial spring. Nakuchiatal is considered as one of the deepest lakes in Nainital, having a length of 983 metres, breadth 693 metres and depth about 40.3 metres. The lake is surrounded by enchanting flora and fauna, making it a pleasant sight to savour.
It is believed that any person who sees all the nine corners of Naukuchiatal at same time, within one year, he will die but doing so is impossible. There are many activities that you can indulge in here, such as boating, kayaking, angling, swimming and horse riding.
